Potions, First Lesson (Sixth Years)

With a slam, the door to the Potions classroom opened, and Frank strode in, carrying with him a felt bag that was dripping blood. He slammed the door shut, then headed straight for his office, opening that door and depositing the bag inside. Then, as he came out again, he found a group of students in their seats in the classroom.

Oh yeah, he had a class. He cleared his throat. “Um, ignore that bag. You lot saw nothing, agreed?” he said threateningly as he glared around at his students. This was his sixth year class. “Now, I thought we might discuss a certain little potion today, a potion that is very interesting. I am talking, of course, about Amortentia.”

Raising his hand, Frank looked over the students. “Show of hands, who here has heard of Amortentia?” Seeing some hands rise, Frank nodded. Good, at least some of them knew what they were dealing with. As well they should, taking NEWT level Potions. One doesn't rush into thing like this.

“Who here can tell me about this particular potion?”

Eerie jumped in shock when the door slammed open, a figure carrying a bloody bag walking in the room. She fought back a curse that wanted to escape at the familiar sight of the Potions professor, still as creepy as hell. She twitched, being reminded of a manga she had read under Lucifer's duress. “Um, ignore that bag. You lot saw nothing, agreed?” This was said in a tone she recognized, being familiar with... erm... loan sharks that came after her grandma died. She nodded, eyes lowering with suspicion.

“Now, I thought we might discuss a certain little potion today, a potion that is very interesting. I am talking, of course, about Amortentia.” Eerie groaned, she had already gotten some attempts with that particular potion. Every time she had a fail attempt, she thanked god that all potions were wrong and incorrectly made. Though she ended up with several stomach aches and had to get her stomach pumped like... ten times.

“Show of hands, who here has heard of Amortentia?” She raised her hand, head still attached to the table.

“Who here can tell me about this particular potion?” Being that her hand was still raised, Eerie nearly whimpered.

Frank hummed to himself as he looked over the raised hands in the class. Which one to choose? There was a surprising amount of students who had heard of Amortentia, apparently. Frank was pleased to see that. After all, that meant that they were at least somewhat knowledgeable, and if they were somewhat knowledgeable, then Frank didn't have to exert himself teaching them everything from scratch.

“Yes, you, the Hufflepuff, miss...?” Frank said, pointing at the Hufflepuff with her hand raised and her head down on the desk. What was that about? Shaking his head, putting those thoughts in the back of his head, Frank focused on the lesson. He could fantasize about dissecting the girl later, hehehe...

A grin spread on Frank's face as he thought about dissecting the children in his class. It would have been so much fun, but nooo, the Headmistress wouldn't allow it... the bitch...

Yes, you, the Hufflepuff, miss...?

"My name is Eerie Monet, Professor Stein."

Eerie raised her head slightly, just enough to look at the professor with tired eyes. "Amortentia is the most powerful love potion in the world. The Potion itself will emit an aroma the receiver finds the most attractive." She bit her lip. "And while Amortentia is a love potion, it doesn't create the actual emotion love-"

Her lips curled in slight sneer.

"Just a powerful attraction, infatuation or obsession." Finished with her answer, Eerie banged her head on the table and added, "The end." Before writing down what she just said in her notebook. Quills sucked. I want a pen.

"My name is Eerie Monet, Professor Stein." Very true, her behavior was a bit eerie, Frank thought with a grin. He liked making fun of students' names. "Amortentia is the most powerful love potion in the world. The Potion itself will emit an aroma the receiver finds the most attractive. And while Amortentia is a love potion, it doesn't create the actual emotion love-"

The girl sneered, and Frank had to wonder if she had had any previous encounters with this particular potion. "Just a powerful attraction, infatuation or obsession." And with that, her head slammed down on the table again, making Frank raise an eyebrow. "The end."

"Very good! Very, very good! Five points for Hufflepuff," Frank said, clapping his hands softly with a big grin on his face. "Yes, it is all as Miss Monet said. Therefore, you will not be making this potion. That would be illegal, after all. You will, however, now sit quietly and read up on Amortentia, pages thirty-nine to forty-three. Got it?"
